Profile
of Central BPNI
Every mother has the right to
know and practice the correct method of rearing
her infant. All mothers are ready to adopt correct
practices once knowledge is provided to them.
The most important aspect of good rearing is
good nourishment that is BREASTMILK. Mothers
require information (Promotion) to successfully
breastfeed their infants. These are precisely
the objectives of BREASTFEEDING PROMOTION NETWORK
OF INDIA.
BPNI is a non-profit, non-governmental,
voluntary organisation that aims at protection,
promotion, and support of breastfeeding. UNICEF
and WABA fund BPNI activities. BPNI does not
accept donation from the IMS industry.
BPNI was born on December 3, 1991 as the recommendation
of a workshop on "Recent Advances in Human
Lactation and Breastfeeding Management"
organised by ACASH and held at Mahatma Gandhi
Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram, Wardha,
Maharashtra. BPNI is registered with the Registrar
of Societies, Delhi, under the Societies Registration
Act, XXI of 1860 as a registered society (No.S-23144
of 1992)
BPNI is also registered under the Foreign Exchange
Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) 1976 (Reg.
No 230650680 dated October 26, 1993) and permitted
to receive contributions/grants from abroad.
